SECURE THE RECOVERY WITH LABOUR – DON’T PUT IT AT RISK WITH THE TORIES The Labour Government’s Budget has set out Labour’s plan to secure economic recovery, support manufacturing and job creation and protect frontline services. Key measures include: · Helping first time buyers with a two year Stamp Duty holiday on properties worth up to £250,000 to get young people on to the property ladder. · Extend Winter Fuel payments for pensioners meaning £250 for the over 60s and £400 for the over 80s. · 20,000 extra student places so young people can increase their opportunities and make the most of their lives. · Fight youth unemployment with the extension of the Young Person’s Guarantee which gives a job, training or work experience for young people out of work for six months. · Doubled the annual Investment Allowance for manufacturing businesses buying new plant and machinery – the Tories are committed to abolishing this allowance. · Halve the deficit in four years but protect spending on frontline services like schools, hospitals and policing. Tory plans include: · Cuts this year while the recovery is still fragile, threatening jobs and prosperity. · Opposing Labour’s help for manufacturing industry. · Cut Sure Start budget by one fifth, hitting opportunity for the very youngest. · A tax benefit of £200,000 for the 3000 richest estates in the country. The choice is very clear – secure the recovery in a fair way with Labour or put it at risk with the Conservatives. Please click here to read the budget in full.
